For my Writing for Influence Public Relations course, we created a press release for an organization or event in Eugene, OR. I decided to do mine on the Student Sustainability Center and its Food Equity program, which I volunteer with every week.
Profile Story
For my Gateway to Media course, we were tasked with writing a story about an individual who has an interesting job, hobby or passion. I instantly knew I wanted to write about Mirabai Collins, who had been my graduate educator for an environmental course I took during my first year at University of Oregon. Mirabai is an Environmental Studies Master’s student at the UO and the co-founder of Black Futures Farm.
Breaking News Story
An example of a hypothetical news story for my Writing for Communicators course. Animal abuse is on the rise in Eugene, OR, which has led organizations to announce new initiatives to help curb it.
travel Blog
In my Writing for Communicators course we practiced convincing readers to travel to a certain destination through blog pieces. I decided to do mine on my hometown, Portland, OR. Read about my favorite breakfast places in Portland.
